We will be visiting Paris, the Normandy Beaches, Conflans, Vernon, Rouen, and
Les Andelys.  Our adventure begins in Paris where we board our cruise ship for
the week – the Avalon Creativity.  The Creativity has 70 staterooms and was  built in
2009.  If you are ready for a slower pace cruise with no crowds, no worries, no
hustle and bustle, with included guided sightseeing and excursions
and complimentary beverage service, then this will be your ideal dream

Paris:  Welcome reception; guided sightseeing
Vernon:  Choice of guided excursions to Giverny or Bizy Castle
Rouen:  Guided sightseeing, see the Astronomical Clock and visit the cathedral; choice of excursions to Normandy landing beaches or “A Taste of Normandy”
Les Andelys:  Orientation, see Château Gaillard
Conflans:  Choice of guided excursions to Auvers-sur-Oise or Château de Malmaison

Day 1 – Paris – Arrive in Paris. Board your ship and free time to explore  the “City of Light.” (Dinner)

Day 2 – Paris – Panoramic city tour including landmarks aong the Seine; the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, Champs Elysee and Arc de Triomphe.  Free evening time to visit a cabaret show. (B,L,D)

Day 3 – Conflans – Guided city tour and visit to Auvers-Sur-Oise – Vincent Van Goghs homeplace or Napoleon and Josephine’s Chateau De Malmaison. (B,L,D)

Day 4 – Vernon -Guided tour of Claude Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny or a visit of Bizy Castle.  Free time to explore Vernon or take an optional excursion. (B,L,D)

Day 5 – Rouen – Guided tour of the home of Joan of Arc, visit the marketplace where she was burned at the stake.  Guided walk through medieval quarter, view 16th century Astronomical Clock, visit Rouen Cathedral. (B,L,D)

Day 6 – Rouen – Full day excursion to Normandy Landing Beaches – Omaha Beach, Juno Beach, Point du Hoc monument, American Cemetery, and World War II Museum.  Re-live the history of D-Day 1944. (B,L,D)

Day 7 – Les Andelys – Visit dramatic Chateau Gaillard – built by England’s Richard the Lionheart in 1196, a masterpiece of medieval military architecture.  Rest of day is free to explore this charming city on your own. (B,L,D)

Day 8 – Paris – Disembark to our Paris hotel for two days.  (B)

Day 9 and Day 10 – Two full days to visit the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower,  Arc de Triomphe, shopping and French cafe’s along the Champs Elysee, and cabaret shows.

Day 11 – Our Paris and Normandy Beaches river cruise comes to an end as we fly home with everlasting memories of our visit back in time to 1944 and D-Day.

Christmas In The Heart of Germany

Christmas In The Heart of Germany – This holiday season, sail along the picturesque Main River between Frankfurt and Nuremberg.  Explore the Bavarian regions of Germany, tour the dramatic sandstone ruins of Heidelberg Castle, the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, historic Nuremberg, and best of all, experience Germany’s world-famous Christmas markets.  Many of our seasonal traditions began in Germany.  So come along and explore the magnificent Christmas markets of Germany on this amazing cruise.

Day 1- Nuremberg – Arrive in Nuremberg and transfer from the airport to embark your ship.  After boarding, relax, or begin exploring this historic city on your own.  After dinner, relax and enjoy musical entertainment in the lounge.

Day 2- Nuremberg – Morning tour of the city’s most prominent landmarks, enjoy the iconic Christmas market in the Old Town’s Main Market Square.  Browse booths with colorful ornaments, gifts, and fragrant treats; there is no better place to shop for handmade wooden toys and nutcrackers.  Savor the traditional lebkuchen and gluhwein.  Free time this afternoon to further explore Nuremberg before boarding your ship for dinner.

Day 3 – Bamberg – Visit Bamberg with its medieval city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Your walking tour includes a visit to the 11th- century cathedral and picturesque city hall built on an island in the middle of a river.  Free time to walk around Bamberg or visit its traditional Christmas markets.

Day 4 – Wurzburg & Rothenburg – Disembark in Gerlachshausen for a full day in two of Northern Bavaria’s most charming destinations.  Walk through Wurzburg and tour the Bishops’ Residenz, a beautiful baroque palace.  Then take a deluxe ride along the Romantic Road to Rothenberg.  Lunch at a local Bavarian restaurant and shopping in its joyful Christmas Market.  Rothenberg is also home to Germany’s Christmas Museum.  Return to Wurzburg for onboard dinner.

Day 5 – Wertheim – Enjoy scenic cruising this morning; sail into Wertheim, located at the confluence of the Main and Tauber Rivers.  You will experience life in a typical small German town on your walking tour.  Free time to visit Wertheim’s Christmas market.  Onboard enjoy Wertheim’s traditional glassblowing art as you sail toward Frankfurt.

Day 6 – Heidelberg – Arrive at Frankfurt for a full-day excursion to Heidelberg, home to Germany’s oldest university.  Tour the red sandstone ruins of Heidelberg Castle, originally built in the 12th century.  Your tour ends at Old Town and marketplace where you will have time to shop at the Christmas market.  Shop for gifts, sample delightful treats, lunch at a local cafe.  After dinner onboard, you will have free time to explore Frankfurt this evening to discover Frankfurt’s charming elegant city.

Day 7 – Frankfurt – Our Christmas in the Heart of Germany ends and we return home with suitcases full of gifts and our hearts full of memories. #rivercruises

Caressed by Atlantic breezes, the vineyards that cover the rolling hills along the rivers of Aquitaine have for centuries produced France’s most remarkable wines: Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes, Medoc and Margaux are but a handful of the appellations that make Bordeaux wines world-famous.  At the region’s heart, the city of Bordeaux stretches along the river bank, inviting visitors to savor its grand architecture, tempting cafes, and superb museums.  Celebrate joie de vivre in this land of wine and oysters, truffles and cognac, as you cruise the Dordogne, Garonne and Gironde Rivers.

8 day cruise – 6 guided tours

Day 1: Bordeaux.  Fly to Bordeaux where you are transferred to your ship; rest of the day is yours to relax or explore Bordeaux on your own.

Day 2: Pauillac.  Sail along the Gironde River, docking at Pauillac in the Medoc region before lunch.  Afternoon wine country tour featuring several wine-tasting opportunities, including the area’s famous Margaux.  Explore Pauillac’s marina and Plaza Lafayette.  Pauillac is home to Chateaux Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild.

Day 3: Blaye. Blaye boasts an extraordinary 17th century citadel. Take guided tour of the citadel, then enjoy free time in Blaye or optional excursion to the town of Cognac.

Day 4: Libourne. Tour Saint-Emilion with a wine tasting of some local vintages.  Explore the town’s boulevards, gardens and shops-or an optional excursion to Bergerac.

Day 5: Cadillac. Tour to Sauternes where the area’s sweet wines are made.

Day 6: Cadillac & Bordeaux. Walking tour of Cadillac visiting the ancient harbor.  See elegant 16th century Chateau, city walls with Clock Gate and Sea Gate.  Free time to explore Bordeaux city’s restaurants, cafes and nightlife.

Day 7: Bordeaux. Tour the city center and visit all the highlights of Bordeaux including the Place des Quinconces, one of the largest squares in Europe, the Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, and several churches.  Afternoon and evening at leisure to explore the town and taste the city’s cuisine and wine appellations.  Optional tour to Arcachon on the Atlantic coast.

Day 8: Bordeaux.  Our tour ends with an optional 3 night stay in the Loire Valley or Paris.
